Product Information

A basic glow plug service kit that includes everything you will need to replace the glow plugs

Diesel engines are different than regular gasoline powered engines in the effect they use compression to cause combustion rather than using a spark plug. Starting a diesel engine on a warm day is pretty much like starting any other engine. However, on a cold day a diesel engine will not readily start without the assistance of glow plugs. Glow plugs heat the combustion chamber enough to allow for better combustion under these types of conditions.

This service kit includes OE Bosch glow plugs. required intake manifold gaskets, and EGR valve gasket for a complete installation.

Glow plugs M57
It is a maintenance item glow plugs go bad randomly they have no service interval they are just replace as needed it is great to have a lifetime warranty on this part

Challenging Replacement
This job is not for the faint of heart. There are washers on the bottom of the intake manifold than can drop off as you are lifting it off the block. Since you have the ports open while lifting the manifold, it is anybody's guess where those washers are going to go when they drop off. Thankfully, when 3 dropped, none went into the open intake port. It took several hours, but I eventually located them on various parts of the undercarriage and was able to confirm none of the 3 went inside the motor. What could have been a 3-4 hour job took about 8-10 due to locating the parts. Then to add icing to the cake, one glow plug started throwing an error about 14 months later. Yes, I will be doing this fun and exciting job a second time to resolve the error code...again.
