Center High Mount Stop Light

A Center High Mount Stop Light, also known as the third brake light, is the red warning light mounted higher than the vehicle’s left and right brake lights — usually at the top of the rear window, trunk lid, or roofline. It provides an extra level of visibility to alert drivers behind when the brakes are applied.

Center High Mount Stop Light Failure Symptoms
  • Light does not illuminate when braking – could be due to a burned-out bulb (halogen), bad LED module, faulty wiring, or blown fuse.
  • Dim or flickering light – often from poor electrical contact, corroded connectors, or weakening LEDs.
  • Partial illumination (for LED strips) – some sections work while others fail, showing an uneven light pattern.

Good fit, but...
Replaced a very old worn out gasket on a 1997 Z3 1.9L but it did not stop the water leak around lens. Right now not sure if it is the lens bend out of shape over time (25 yrs).
