Product Information

Located in the right side of the fuel tank, includes strainer, tube, and tank seal

If your BMW is stalling or won't start due to fuel pressure problems it could be due to a worn out fuel pump. This replacement fuel pump assembly sourced directly from BMW will perform just like the original one installing in your car from the factory. When installing a new fuel pump we also recommend replacing the fuel pump relay.

Fuel Pump

A Fuel Pump is responsible for transferring fuel from the tank to the engine at the appropriate pressure. By delivering a consistent fuel flow, the fuel pump ensures the engine has the right fuel-air mixture for combustion, allowing the vehicle to run smoothly. Most modern vehicles use electric fuel pumps, which are typically located inside the fuel tank.

Fuel Pump Failure Symptoms
  • Difficulty Starting or No Start: A failing fuel pump may struggle to deliver fuel at the required pressure, resulting in hard starting or, in severe cases, a no-start condition. This is particularly noticeable during cold starts
  • Engine Stalling or Sputtering: If the fuel pump intermittently loses power or pressure, the engine may stall, sputter, or hesitate while driving, especially under heavy acceleration or at high speeds. This is often a sign of insufficient fuel flow
  • Loss of Power Under Load: A faulty fuel pump may not be able to provide the increased fuel flow needed during activities that require more power, such as driving uphill or accelerating quickly. This can cause a noticeable loss of power or hesitation in response

About Genuine BMW

The original parts used by BMW to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine BMW” brand. When ordering a Genuine BMW part you are guaranteed to get the same part that you would pick up from your local dealerships part department. Genuine BMW parts have been built to BMW’s stringent standards and are the same quality of the original parts used to build your Ultimate Driving Machine.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your BMW are not necessarily manufactured by BMW. No cause for concern, as BMW designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for BMW for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine BMW parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a BMW logo.

Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.

On full throttle the engine was struggling and losing power around 5k rpm. Turned out the pump filter was very dirty and pump original at 144,000. Replaced and now full power.

Excellent part. No surprises. Just don't try to replace your pump with a full tank. Spilled about 10gals on the driveway. But none in the interior, haha.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by a customer
Are there any special tools needed for the hose clamp included?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Typically a set of wire cutters will work just fine to crimp these hoses, however, the specific style of clamp included (and others on a European vehicle honestly) would need an Oetiker clamp plier like the below. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/ear-clamp-pliers-cta-4210
