A fender splash shield (also called an inner fender liner) is a protective panel mounted inside the wheel well, between the fender and the engine bay. It shields critical components—such as wiring, belts, suspension, and the engine bay—from water, mud, rocks, and road debris. It also helps improve aerodynamics and keeps dirt from accumulating. Over time, splash shields can break, loosen, or wear out due to impacts and exposure to the elements.

• Loose or missing shield – rattling, flapping noises, or visible gaps inside the wheel well.
• Damage or cracks – shield is broken, torn, or hanging down after impact with road debris or curbs.
• Increased debris exposure – more dirt, mud, or water entering the engine bay, leading to corrosion or component damage.
