Door Latch Assembly

A door latch assembly is the mechanical (and sometimes partially electronic) mechanism inside a vehicle door that secures the door closed and releases it when the handle is pulled. It connects to both the interior and exterior door handles, the door lock mechanism, and sometimes power lock actuators.

The assembly ensures that the door stays shut while driving and allows it to open safely when needed.

Door Latch Assembly Failure Symptoms
  • Door Won’t Latch Properly: Door may not fully close or may pop open unexpectedly.
  • Door Won’t Open from Inside or Outside: Pulling the handle does not release the latch.
  • Loose or Wobbly Door Handle: Handles may feel disconnected or have excessive play.

Horrible! Done with FCP!
This is the last straw with FCP euro. I read the other two review, but had no other option than to get OEM. I had a shop redo my entire door panel and inside of the driver door, $650 dollars. After they called me and said everything is good but the new door lock actuator is bad and does not allow the door to lock or unlock. If I come back with a new part I get hit with $300 in labor again due to this faulty part. Now I’m screwed with a door that doesn’t unlock or lock till I spent another $230 on a part, send back the old one; and repay the additional labor costs a second time. You think you can’t go wrong getting OEM from these guys, be careful. Quality has gone DOWN

Part arrived on time and as advertised. Installation was smooth. Unfortunately the locking mechanism portion of the part has quit working 2 months after being installed. Not looking forward to revisiting the replacement process.
