A floor pan heat shield is a thin metal or composite barrier mounted under a vehicle’s floor, usually above or near the exhaust system. Its purpose is to protect the cabin and surrounding components from the intense heat generated by the exhaust.

• Rattling or metallic noises – loose or broken heat shield vibrating against the exhaust or floor.
• Unusual cabin heat – floor area gets noticeably hotter than normal.
• Corrosion or visible damage – shield appears rusted, cracked, or partially missing.
