This solenoid threads into the front of your S65 engines cylinder head. It pressurizes engine oil to control the position of the exhaust camshaft. This solenoid can become clogged over time resulting in VANOS related errors.

An Engine Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid is an essential component of an engine's variable valve timing system. It controls the flow of oil to the VVT system, which adjusts the timing of the opening and closing of the engine's intake and exhaust valves. This adjustment allows for optimal engine performance, improved fuel efficiency, and reduced emissions by enabling the engine to operate more efficiently across different RPM ranges.

Engine Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid Failure Symptoms
  • Check Engine Light: A malfunctioning VVT solenoid often triggers the Check Engine light. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) related to the VVT system may be stored in the vehicle's onboard diagnostics, indicating an issue with the solenoid or related components
  • Poor Engine Performance: If the VVT solenoid is failing, it can cause the engine to experience poor acceleration, hesitation, or overall reduced power. This is often due to incorrect valve timing affecting the engine's ability to breathe properly
  • Rough Idling: A faulty VVT solenoid can result in unstable or rough idling, as the engine may struggle to maintain a consistent RPM due to improper valve timing adjustments
