If you have upgraded your BMW's M20 engine you know how crucial timing is. Timing belts are responsible for ensuring that the valve timing matches that of the crank. Maintenance and replacement of this belt is especially important on interference engine.
Gates Racing timing belts are ideal for engines that have been modified to produce higher than stock horsepower. It is designed to hold up to the rigors of higher horsepower higher RPM engines, particularly crucial with interference engines; 300 percent stronger than the standard aftermarket belt.
Your engines timing belt synchronizes the valve train to the rotation of the engines crankshaft. It is imperative to replace your timing belt at the manufacturer specified intervals to prevent catastrophic engine failure. This is especially critical on interference engines as the engine valves and pistons will collide in the event of a timing belt failure.

We're not 100% sure what you're specifically asking. This Gates Racing belt is significantly reinforced over a stock replacement belt and has been developed for stock and high performance applications. It would still be required to replace at suggested service intervals.
