Product Information

Located inside the fuel tank, also known as a "suction device" but is also referred to as a pre-supply fuel pump

This fuel pump is located inside your BMW's fuel tank and suctions fuel from the fuel tank to supply the external high pressure fuel pump. If this fuel pump is having not supplying adequate fuel for the high pressure pump you will have fuel starvation performance issues or even a no start condition.

Includes fuel tank seal, p/n 16111744369. Does not include level sending unit.

Electric Fuel Pump

An electric fuel pump is responsible for pumping fuel from the fuel tank to the engine at the appropriate pressure and flow rate. Electric fuel pumps are typically located inside the fuel tank or mounted externally and are activated by the vehicle’s ignition system. They ensure that fuel is delivered consistently to the engine for combustion, supporting overall engine performance and efficiency.

Electric Fuel Pump Failure Symptoms
  • Difficulty Starting the Engine: If the fuel pump is struggling to deliver fuel, the engine may have trouble starting or may take longer than usual to crank and start
  • Loss of Power: A malfunctioning fuel pump can lead to a loss of engine power, making it difficult to accelerate or maintain speed, especially when climbing hills or carrying heavy loads

About Genuine BMW

The original parts used by BMW to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine BMW” brand. When ordering a Genuine BMW part you are guaranteed to get the same part that you would pick up from your local dealerships part department. Genuine BMW parts have been built to BMW’s stringent standards and are the same quality of the original parts used to build your Ultimate Driving Machine.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your BMW are not necessarily manufactured by BMW. No cause for concern, as BMW designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for BMW for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine BMW parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a BMW logo.

Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.

Lesson: Do yourself a favor and just buy the OEM part
I tried to save some money and get an aftermarket in-tank fuel pump for my M3. I found one on Amazon (Spectra Premium SP2102H) and ordered it up. It fit OK... but wasn't perfect. The stud spacing was off where the level sending unit mounts up, and I couldn't get it to seal all the way. Fuel would spit from the sending unit during acceleration. After trying to seal it with addition o-rings... I just decided to cut my losses and order the Genuine BMW part from FCP. SO happy that I did. It installed with factory fit, and I had zero issues fitting it up to the existing sending unit. So... in the end I did spend more than I was hoping to... but, now my car is running smooth again and if anything goes wrong, I've got the FCP Lifetime Guarantee... well worth the cost.

I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't so expensive. The AIRTEX pumps are noisy and the fuel qty. sending units don't fit properly unless tapped with a mallet (not an issue with the OEM pump) but then again at triple cost, you have a choice. I preferred the OEM.
