Product Information

Includes roller bearing

This dual mass flywheel is made by LuK, an OEM supplier to BMW. Duel mass flywheels are a wear item and should be replaced with every clutch job. Unlike other types of flywheels it is not possible to machine a dual mass unit. Failure to replace your flywheel when completing a clutch job can result in extra vibrations and harshness that would otherwise not be felt.

Clutch Flywheel

A clutch flywheel is a heavy, circular metal disc (usually made of steel or cast iron) mounted on the rear of the engine’s crankshaft in manual transmission vehicles. It plays a key role in both engine operation and clutch engagement.

Clutch Flywheel Failure Symptoms
  • Clutch slippage or poor engagement – worn or damaged flywheel surface reduces grip.
  • Vibrations or shuddering – felt when engaging the clutch due to hot spots, warping, or cracks.
  • Difficulty starting the engine – damaged flywheel teeth prevent the starter motor from engaging properly.

Flywheel
My E46 330XI is now running smoothly and great after a new OE luk clutch kit and flywheel replacement. I recommend replacing old flywheel as well when a new clutch is needed. My old flywheel had a lot of play. The Center bearing is already included and installed on flywheel.

Highly recommend the single mass flywheel conversion instead
I purchased this due to the fact that there was a vibrating noise coming from my transmission due to the original duel mass flywheel being worn out, so I figured getting a brand new one would completely eliminate this issue for Atleast a couple of years until the new flywheel wore out due to its unreliable design, I was mistaken because once installed although making less sounds/vibrations it still has a loud vibration at low rpms when not using the gas and it is most noticeable in reverse when the gas is not being used at all, you can hear the flywheel even though being brand new just vibrating away like it’s already going out. This is why I highly recommend to get the single mass conversion kit as it eliminates this unreliable and idiotically designed flywheel and replaces it with just a solid piece of metal which as you might guess is the most reliable form of flywheel and is also resurfacable unlike the dual mass flywheel. Take this into consideration when buying this flywheel as I spent $700 on the flywheel all the accessories i.e. clutch kit, bolts and other pieces that go with it and was disappointed when the vibration sound did not go away.

A cheaper replacement for OEM...

Question Posted by Edou
Would this fit a ZHP E46 6-speed? I know there are a lot of 5-speed clutch kits and flywheels but just wondering if this would be the right one for my 03' BMW 330i
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
2003 is a split model year on 3/2003. All 330 models after 3/2003 use a 6 speed manual. This flywheel is specific for 6 speed manial gearboxes.
