Drive Shaft

A driveshaft is a rotating metal shaft that transmits power from the transmission to the rear wheels in a vehicle, and signs of a failing driveshaft include: noticeable vibrations while driving, shuddering when accelerating, loud clicking or clunking noises, squeaking sounds, and difficulty turning, often accompanied by shaking coming from underneath the car; all of which are usually caused by worn-out U-joints or center bearing issues within the driveshaft assembly.

Drive Shaft Failure Symptoms
  • Vibrations: This is the most common sign of a failing driveshaft, often felt as a shaking sensation while driving, especially at higher speeds
  • Shuddering upon acceleration: When accelerating from a stop, the car may jerk or shudder due to a damaged driveshaft struggling to deliver smooth power
  • Noises: Clicking, clunking, squeaking, or rattling sounds coming from the drivetrain area can indicate worn components within the driveshaft

Parts Included
Perfect fit on a 2004 BWM E46 with manual transmission. In addition to the center support bearing the driveshaft also includes the end bushing (26117526611). You will need the Butyl tape (83225A1B482), at least 3 self locking hex nuts (07129900047). I also replaced the driveshaft to differential flange bolts (26117571956) need 4 total.
