Product Information

The front drive shaft on BMW xDrive cars is a known wear item on higher mileage cars (or cars that are tuned and making more than stock power). The primary point of failure is almost always the u-joint, which is a sealed, non-serviceable component.

This kit includes the necessary parts for replacing the front drive shaft in the event that it is showing wear and needs to be replaced. If the front drive shaft has failed (come apart), you will need to inspect for other damage and order additional components as necessary.

Inspect the front drive shaft for excessive play or any signs of wear, such as a brownish dust near the u-joints. Excessive wear in these components can result in drive shaft failure under drive train load, resulting in other damages such as the engine block or oil pan.
