Supports the center section of the drive shaft under the body of your BMW, a common replacement item on higher mileage vehicles, includes center support bearing

The drive shaft support bearing supports the drive shaft. The bearing in the center of the rubber support can fail with high mileage which can cause whining sounds. In addition, the rubber mount which houses the bearing can also fail which will cause the drive shaft to bounce around.

If your BMW makes thudding noises from under your seat while accelerating it's likely due to a failed center support.

Note: It is absolutely vital to mark each section of the drive shaft as it is a balanced assembly. Failure to do so can result in drive line vibrations and other issue.

I wouldn't recommend this part. Not for this vehicle. It only lasted just about 2 years and needs replacement. It's currently about 2/3 separated from the rubber. It's weird because I bought this brand for my E60 and it's going over 6 years so I figured this part would last but it didn't. Go Genuine.

direct replacement
Getting the driveshaft apart was a bit of a bear but once that was done, the install was fairly easy. Good to do if you have the driveshaft out and don't know when the last time this bearing was replaced.
