Door handler stuck after installed after one year
This driver side door handl carrier is direct fit, after install that I need to force a little bit to move the door handle in order to open the door. after one year, now the door handle stuck completely that I need to intionally puch back to the close position. Now I need to buy the same one again and than tried to claim the warranty and see what is going to happen.

Defective
Febi part would not fit, was defective from factory. Improper distance between outer attachment screw base and insert for door handle (2mm wider than original) meant I couldn't install door handle.

Febi BMW E53 door handle carrier
These always fail in the northeast winter, when the doors are frozen shut. The pivot points fail, and then the cable does not actuate the release to open the door from the outside. Bad design from BMW, and the aftermarket design is forced to copy the original, and are only slightly better. These handles release in an arc motion, however, people pull a handle straight towards them. Hence the certain failures.

Great Product
Very durable carrier and it comes with an outstanding Lifetime Warranty if you might ever need it. I have had great luck with the two Febi door carriers I replace a couple years ago. They have held up well in the harsh winter months of the Midwest.

Works
Seems like the cable on my existing carrier stretched over time and I was no longer able to open the driver side front door. FCP shipping was very fast and I received the item quickly. It feels like a quality product. Once installed, the door handle opened the door normally and as expected. The one thing I would say is that there is a black plastic piece holding the screw that fastens the lock cylinder to the car. With the plastic piece in place, I was not able to get the screw positioned properly. Once I removed the plastic piece I was able to screw down the lock cylinder. I'm a happy camper thanks to FCP!

2002 BMW X5 3.0L Sport Man 5 Spd
If you know this generation of X5'sm then you know all door handles have a HISTORY. Since Ive owned this car which is only 4 years. Ive replace all four door handle carriers. This part fit like a glove and I only hope that FCP will continue to carry them.

Door Handle Carrier
I've tried non-genuine door carriers on my X5 in the past and they've all been a total headache, non would fit correctly leaving the outer handle protruding from the bodywork slightly. I'd done a full set using genuine a few years ago because of it. But when the first of those genuine carriers failed I decided to give FCP and these a try. The Fitmet and the operation of the handle is absolutely perfect, no tight spots and sits flush everytime it's released. Will be coming back here for the other doors as they become due.

Exact fit, opens as smooth as oem. I originally purchased a cheaper one on amazon and the slightly lower price was not worth doing the job twice.

Not the best quality
Cable not of the exact same length made it difficult to install. The other thing is that it came with almost no grease or lubricant, I had to pull it out a few months later because I was going to breake the handle, then I greased it all over to make it as smooth as possible. Overall, it needs some improvements but is worth the effort for a lower price. If you want to go the safe route then pick BMW branded instead.

Door handle carrier: says left. Well... is that left sitting in the car or left from outside the car at the front bumper facing the windshield. Very vague. They should describe as passenger side or driver side.
