Product Information

Secures the rear differential to the subframe

This bushing secures your M3's rear differential to the subframe.

Differential Mount

A differential mount is a component that secures the differential to the vehicle’s chassis or subframe. It absorbs and dampens the vibrations and torque generated by the differential, helping to maintain stability and alignment within the drivetrain. Differential mounts are typically made of rubber or polyurethane and play a crucial role in transferring power smoothly to the wheels.

Differential Mount Failure Symptoms
  • Clunking or Banging Noises: A common symptom of a failing differential mount is clunking or banging noises, especially when accelerating, decelerating, or shifting gears, as the differential shifts due to loose or damaged mounts
  • Vibrations: Worn or damaged mounts can cause excessive vibrations in the drivetrain, leading to noticeable shaking or vibrating felt in the rear of the vehicle or even in the cabin.

About Genuine BMW

The original parts used by BMW to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine BMW” brand. When ordering a Genuine BMW part you are guaranteed to get the same part that you would pick up from your local dealerships part department. Genuine BMW parts have been built to BMW’s stringent standards and are the same quality of the original parts used to build your Ultimate Driving Machine.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your BMW are not necessarily manufactured by BMW. No cause for concern, as BMW designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for BMW for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine BMW parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a BMW logo.

Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.

Little bugger
Fixed my E46 M3 rear diff clank that I've let go for a couple of years. The job is a huge PIA; removing the rear axles, sway bar, driveshaft. Dropping the diff makes it easier to replace input/output seals "while in there". Get new designed rear dif bolts. Make sure you mark the pinion nut if removing and return to same spec!!!!

Question Posted by Zixiao
What is the special tool for this bushing?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
There are several tools required to press the old bushing out and press the new bushing in. Per BMW's ISTA is will require use of special tools 333 181 (83300494195), 333 312, 333 314 (83300492314), 333 315 (83300492315), 333 316 (83300492316), and 334 174. Unfortunately, some of these tools do not correlate to the full 11 digit part number.
