This panel covers your E53 X5's windshield wiper components. This piece usually gets damaged when being removed to work on the wiper system. We recommend replacement if it has been damaged as water can leak into the engine bay.

A cowl cover is a plastic or metal panel located at the base of the windshield, covering the area between the hood and the windshield. It serves to protect windshield wiper components, cabin air filters, and ventilation inlets from debris, water, and dirt while also improving aerodynamics and appearance.

Replace before its NLA
Wanted to refresh all exterior seals on my e53. If this is UV cracked, it can allow water to get behind the glove box. I thought it was my door vapor barrier or sunroof drain but it was this cowl! The passenger front carpet would get damp with a slightly sour smell but never soaking wet. This stopped the water intrusion and is now staying dry!
