Product Information

A complete front end 10-piece control arm kit featuring OE Lemforder components

This is a front suspension refresh kit for all 8 cylinder E39 models. The E39 chassis is notorious for breaking thrust arm bushings which come from the factory as a hydro filled bushing. This kit is comprised of all Lemforder OE replacement parts. These are identical to what BMW sells through the dealerships.

We recommend replacing all of your components if you have in excess of 80K miles and still have original components. We also encourage that you replace your control arm components if you are experiencing the following symptoms:

  • Popping, clunking, or clicking sounds while traveling over bumps or dips in the road
  • A disconnected feeling between the steering wheel and front end of the car
  • Vehicle is slow to respond to steering inputs
  • Vehicle wanders on the highway or will not drive straight
  • Vehicle cannot be aligned properly due to play in front suspension
Suspension Control Arm Kit

Control arms are crucial link in a vehicle's suspension connecting the suspension to a vehicle's subframe. These pieces are usually hinged to allow for suspension to travel and articulate as the vehicle rides over obstructions in the road and while the vehicle turns. Many vehicles such as those with independent suspensions have multiple links and feature several connection points and arms to offer better ride quality and comfort.

As bushings and joints in a control arm begin to wear you may notice a looseness feel in your suspension. And while many arms have replaceable and serviceable individual components, many still require the replacement of the entire arm. Below are signs of when a replacement control arm may be needed.

Suspension Control Arm Kit Failure Symptoms
  • Play in suspension joints where these arms meet the subframe and/or knuckle
  • Buckling noise emanating from the suspension
  • Uneven tire wear
  • Inability to properly align vehicle
  • Shutter or vibration coming from the steering wheel at highway speed
  • Wandering or pulling sensation from side to side felt on the steering wheel

Good stuff, there are more parts provided than what is shown
I bought this for a long-overdue refresh. Just want to highlight that these parts come with its own adjacent bolt, washer, and nuts. It is not shown here. I tried to be a smart Alex by buying all the adjacent hardware and turns out I overbought; I wasted money. The mileage of the car is around 120k miles, and I felt something was off while driving it. Brought it to my mechanic and he said everything looks fine, no leaking, all the boots are OK, no visible cracks in the bushings etc. But I go ahead and bought this suspension kit anyways because I knew the mechanic is missing something. My suspicion was confirmed, it is only when you tear the old parts down you realize that the inner parts of the bushings are shot and tired. It can probably go on for longer in that condition but you are not going to get anywhere near peak performance. Once installed these new parts, the car feels tight like a new car, and you rekindle the romance with the car again. If you have a high mileage car, just go for it and do it. With FCP Euro's lifetime guarantee there is no sense for you to defer these big wear items presumably to maximise usage. You get your moneys' worth buying now and using it as long as possible.
