BMW Connecting Rod Bolt Set - ARP 201-6103

The S54 engine is a race-inspired engine that is capable of tremendous operating speeds. With an 8000 RPM rev limit from the factory it is a very high strung engine. The engine is built "tight" from the factory and has become known to have rod bearing issues in which replacing the bearings is required to prevent complete engine failure.

Early production S54's built up 2/2003 use an M11x1.25 bolt which is not available as a replacement from BMW. That means engine rebuilds using original connecting rods or rod bearing services require reuse of the originally installed connecting rod bolts. While this was determined to not be an issue it's also not great.

This ARP connecting rod bolt set allows you to replace the original M11x1.25 connecting rod bolts while also upgrading at the same time which is a win win in our book.

ARP2000 is an alloy steel that can be safely heat treated to a higher level, producing a greater strength material than 8740. While 8740 and ARP2000 share similar characteristics – ARP2000 is capable of achieving a clamp load at 220,000 psi. ARP2000 is used widely in short track and drag racing as an up-grade from 8740 chrome moly in both steel and aluminum rods. Stress corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement are typically not a problem, providing care is taken during installation.

When installing these ARP fasteners you must use ARP Ultra-Torque Fastener Assembly Lubricant to lubricate the threads of the bolt under the head of the bolt. ARP recommends the stretch method when tightening rod bolts
