Product Information

240mm clutch set, comes with pressure plate, clutch disc, and release bearing

If your BMW's clutch has started to slip it will need to be replaced. Some owners will opt to simply replace the clutch disc but we always find it best to replace the entire clutch kit for the best service life and performance. We also recommend replacing the rear main seal.

FCP also recommends inspecting the flywheel for excessive wear. If the flywheel is worn we recommend replacing it at the same time as the clutch kit. This will ensure a long and reliable service life of your BMW's clutch.

Transmission Clutch Kit

Clutch kits are made up of two main components, the clutch friction disc and the clutch pressure plate. Both of these components transfer torque from the flywheel to the transmission. There are several different types of manual transmission clutches in terms of operation but they all perform the same basic function.

Clutches are a pure wear item. In some cases you may have the option to replace a pressure plate or clutch disc separately but its always best to replace both at the same time along with other component such as the rear main seal, pilot bearing, release bearing, and shifter parts.

Transmission Clutch Kit Failure Symptoms
  • Slipping under acceleration
  • Engine revs freely but the vehicle does not accelerate
  • Difficulty shifting gears
  • Squeaking noises while the clutch pedal is pressed
  • Sticky or spongy clutch pedal feel when the clutch pedal is pressed
  • Burning smell from slipping clutch

About Sachs

ZF Sachs AG, also known as Fichtel & Sachs was founded in Schweinfurt in 1895 and was a well-known German family business. At its last point as an independent company, the company name was Fichtel & Sachs AG. In 1997, the automotive supplier was taken over by Mannesmann and renamed Mannesmann Sachs AG. As of 2001, Sachs belonged to ZF Friedrichshafen as a subsidiary company ZF Sachs AG. In 2011, ZF Sachs, like other Group subsidiaries, was legally merged with ZF Friedrichshafen AG and the independent business units integrated into the ZF divisions. Sachs has since become a brand of ZF Friedrichshafen AG.

Sachs is a trusted brand of the ZF family, which includes Lemforder, TRW, Boge, Stabilus, ZF parts and Sachs Performance. All divisions are well respected within their automotive specialty as they are all OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to car brands like Audi, Porsche, BMW, Volvo and more. Sachs specializes in shock absorbers, struts and clutches, with FCP Euro stocking many solutions based on your needs, be it an OE replacement or a higher performance clutch, shock or strut. All Sachs parts are built to meet or exceed the OEM specifications, this provides confidence and value when choosing Sachs over a Genuine part.

Feels Great. Easy to Drive Again
Decided to stay OEM since I got over 100k miles of life on my OE clutch. Made a major improvement in clutch feel. Clutch engages much sooner and smoother rather than needing to be depressed 100%. Car now gets into gear much easier. Wish I had replaced everything sooner. Note: I did also replace the clutch line and dual mass flywheel.

OEM works
I always run OEM BMW clutch kits, I have in 3 different E36M3s including my race car. They work great and have no issues.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by Nathanial
will this fit a e36 m3 240mm SMF?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This clutch kit is designed for a dual mass flywheel.
Question Posted by Sergio
Does this fit on base models like 325i?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Clutches are application specific. The years/models listed are the correct fitments for this specific clutch. 325i can be a lot of different BMW chassis cars (E30, E36, E46, E90). Our recommendation is to enter your year and model information in the vehicle selector to find the correct parts for your vehicle.
Question Posted by a customer
will this fit on my 2002 330ci?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
No.
Question Posted by a customer
Is this a self adjusting pressure plate for use with the dual mass flywheel?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Self adjusting clutches were not used on E36 M3 or E36/7 Z3 M models. The pressure plate is a traditional style. However, from the factory these vehicles did come with a dual mass flywheel.
