This vacuum pump supplies vacuum for your BMW's brake booster. On E9X M3's there is not enough vacuum in the intake manifold/plenum to reliably supply vacuum to the brake booster. This electric vacuum pump provides the vacuum source needed to ensure the brake booster functions correctly.

A power brake booster vacuum pump is a component that provides the necessary vacuum pressure for the brake booster, ensuring consistent braking assistance. This is especially important in vehicles with turbocharged, supercharged, or diesel engines, where natural engine vacuum may be insufficient. By supplying stable vacuum pressure, the pump allows the brake booster to reduce pedal effort, improving braking efficiency and driver control.
