Product Information

This European spec, 2-piece floating rotor reduces unsprung weight. The two-piece floating design also helps reduce heat transfer and helps maintain braking performance under more aggressive operating conditions. A great replacement part for European spec M3's and a great upgrade part for US spec M3's.

Disc Brake Rotor

Sold Individually

Commonly referred to as a Brake Disc or a Brake Rotor, these components play a vital role in your braking system. When applying the brake pedal, this produces hydraulic fluid pressure which then transfers the pressure from the pedal through your braking system and into your brake calipers. The caliper pistons then apply pressure against your brake pads squeezing them inward against your brake rotors ultimately causing friction and stopping the vehicle. Brake rotors are a regular maintenance item which requires either servicing by means of machine work, or most commonly replacement when they become too thin, pulsate, glaze, or grind from worn-out brake pads. It's recommended to replace the brake pads and rotors at the same time.

Disc Brake Rotor Failure Symptoms
  • Pulsating
  • Grinding
  • Squeaking
  • Glazing
  • Hot spots
  • A noticeable lip on the rotors outer edge

About Zimmermann Formula Z

The Zimmermann Formula Z brake disc was crafted to seamlessly combine easy installation with superior braking performance under intense mechanical and thermal stress. This compound brake disc, designed by Zimmermann, addresses the heightened demands associated with engine tuning and optimized chassis structures.

Advantages

  • Excellent deceleration action and no distortion of friction ring at high temperatures
  • Substantial weight saving and therefore less unsprung mass
  • Floating mounting enables radial expansion of the brake disc under relatively heavy loads, thus preventing shielding and increasing resistance to heat cracks
  • "Hot spots" prevented by optimized design of ventilation channels
  • 1:1 exchange of original disc possible
  • Not subject to registration: general ABE certification supplied with the disc
  • No conversion is required for brake tuning
