Axles can fail for a variety of reasons. After countless of thousands of miles and years exposed to the elements; axle boots tear and CV joints become weak. If your axle CV boots are torn and leaking you may have to replace the entire axle assembly.
The CV (Constant Velocity) axle assembly is responsible for transferring torque and rotational power from the transmission to the wheels while allowing for suspension movement and steering articulation. The CV axle consists of a shaft with joints at both ends: a CV joint that connects the axle to the transmission and another CV joint that connects the axle to the wheel hub. This design allows the axle to handle changes in angle and length as the vehicle moves, especially when turning or going over bumps.
CV Axle Assembly Failure Symptoms- Clicking or Popping Noises: One of the most common signs of a failing CV axle is a clicking or popping noise when turning the vehicle. This noise typically occurs when the CV joint is damaged or worn out, especially during sharp turns.
- Vibration While Driving: A failing CV axle can cause noticeable vibrations while driving, especially at higher speeds. This vibration may indicate that the axle is bent, or damaged, or that the CV joints are worn out.
- Grease Leaks: If the CV axle boot tears or cracks, grease can leak out. You may notice grease on the inside of the wheel or around the CV joint. This can lead to increased wear on the joint due to a lack of lubrication.

The fit is perfect. Although the diameter of the shaft is a lot smaller than the OEM it replaced. I don't believe it is an issue but now the axle (center part) on the passenger side is larger than this one on the drive side. Also, check the socket size for the axle nut. I bought a new 32mm locking nut rather than using the 30mm this one comes with. You could use the 30mm but I wanted to keep all four locking nuts the same size.
Perfect fit and no more slack or play when twisting the ends in opposite rotational direction. Which means more immediate motion upon pedal press.

Is this a rear passenger side or drivers? I ordered a 304473 and it was listed right side… which is passenger side if sitting in the car

Part fitment is not determined by "driver" or "passenger" position. Position of parts on the car or relative to generic seating position inside the vehicle. This will make anything to your left also be on the left side of the vehicle. This axle fits the left side. The reason for positions not being related to the driving position is that can vary based on the market. The true part position does not change regardless of driving position.

635 is the length of this axle. This doesn't have a "fully compressed" length because the inner and outer joints are CV-style joints, the axle length does not change and is not required to change in this application. Only front axles use a tripod-style inner CV to allow the axle length to change. This does not apply to axles in the rear of the vehicle.
