Product Information

BMW's use a powered antenna that uses multiple antennas in unison to generate a clearer signal. The antenna in the BMWs is located in the back windshield and this amplifier helps improve reception of the antenna. Radio, key signals, and more come through the antenna. Failure of this module can cause poor radio reception, keyless remote problems, and more.

About Genuine BMW

The original parts used by BMW to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine BMW” brand. When ordering a Genuine BMW part you are guaranteed to get the same part that you would pick up from your local dealerships part department. Genuine BMW parts have been built to BMW’s stringent standards and are the same quality of the original parts used to build your Ultimate Driving Machine.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your BMW are not necessarily manufactured by BMW. No cause for concern, as BMW designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for BMW for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine BMW parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a BMW logo.

Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.

Worth the price to buy new
I was back and forth between buying one of these new or trying to pick up a 'known good' used one... with how these seem to degrade over time, I figured it wasn't worth taking the gamble and just bought new. Well worth it, especially knowing I'll be covered by FCP's guarantee if this one ever dies on me. When I bought my E61, the keyless entry range was about 5 feet, even after replacing the battery in one of the fobs. The first week I owned it, we had a bad rainstorm and then keyless entry stopped working altogether.. replaced the diversity antenna and now it works at a normal range, somewhere around 40-50 feet. Vast improvement over how it was. I will suggest using some Flex Tape or similar to seal the front edge of the antenna housing as well as the front edge of the plastic 'lid' that goes over it. Doing that should greatly cut down on how much water is allowed into it in the first place.

Solved range issue
If you are like me and own a e61/e60 and you are struggling with key fob range this will solve it so long as your key fob batteries are replaced and that is not the problem. I had about 2-3 feet of range. After replacing it I can now unlock/lock my car from across the street. Worth the damn money il tell ya.

Perfect fit for 2006 E61
My keyless entry is working again. Thanks to this antenna. Not cheap, but with FCP you are covered if anything happens in the future.

Works great!
Restored my use of my key fob after the antenna go wet under the cover. Still don't have the same range I used to but i suspect that's related to a different component.
