BMW Alternator - SEG Automotive 0121.715.116

I bought the first one, the diodes blew the first day that I had it on the road. I subsequently got two replacements, that had bad diodes out of the box..... Then I got a refund. The customer service guys were amazing! They are the only reason that I give this three stars.

08 e90 N54 manual. Had the battery light on. Code 002E97 and 002A1A. Not sure if the second one is related, but both cleared and didn’t come back after replacement. As the other guys said, yes, you'll have to shave the lower bracket faces down a little. i used an angel grinder and just faced the holes on the non-block to alternator side, so it would sit as flat against the motor in case I was off. Anyway, I also used the intake trim method, took a little off the airbox mount. Best way to get it out is as follows. Remove the cowl, airbox, loosen charge pipe, remove brake vacuum line, pull out the front tube that goes into the charge pipe, think it’s the re circulate valve, has the two half twist connectors, grey and the hose looks like the flex pipe on a shop vac. loosen the plastic hard plastic t30s to get room remove the belt from the alternator. T60, I believe to get onto the tensioner. Then loosen the single t30 on a bracket near the lower alternator bolts. That will allow you to get a 1/4 or 3/8 13mm on the lower 2 alternator bolts. Take that bracket that t30 went into and the two 13mm out. remove the top 13mm bolts to the alternator. Its very tight but the easiest way to remove without taking a ton of intake plastic off is knocking the alternator lower mount forward, then tip the top to the back of the car. the bolt faces sit proud so once they are off of the bolt hole faces it goes from basically not moving at all to completely loose. Shave down the lower mount as I described before. use some scotch bright to clean up the in-vehicle hole faces. take-off small bits at a time. a little goes a long way. once it quite literally falls back into place, you’ll know you have enough, snug is good, loose loose is bad. Still want it to be a decent fit. From that point you’re like 30 mins from turning key again. Just do a BMS reset to protect your battery. if you have the tools. If you need to do a carbon cleaning, and an OFHG this would be a perfect time. Would make the job like 10x as big but would probably make it easier to get out, and would not require any intake modification. Note; Intake mod isnt structural. The mount is hollow anyway, and the little youll trim leaves it solid still. I wouldnt have done it if it wasnt okay. Will keep updated.

In addition to Jack’s reply, the screw hole itself stops screws from going all the through AND I had to shave the screw brackets to get it to even fit in my car. Just buy something else. Please.

Powder coat makes it impossible to slide in to the bracket don’t buy this unless you absolutely hate yourself. Terrible product fvck seg
