BMW 180 Amp Alternator Kit - 12317555926KT

There are 2 alternators for the 2008 X5, depending on options, and if there is so much as a spec of grease on the alternator, the "No Hassle" return policy becomes a big headache.

The alternator itself is fine. Installed it and started getting a charging malfunction error. Ended up having to take it to a shop and they said the silver coating applied to the alternator was covering the contact points for the engine and preventing the alternator from grounding itself. They sanded off the contact points and now the alternator generates 14.5+ volts as it should. Said this was a problem they've seen before. More care should be taken during manufacturing to prevent this from occuring. Cost me serious time, money, and stress for what could be the dumbest issue I've ever dealt with on a vehicle.

Kit came and was an easy install, no issues. Would recommend

Original ALT went 13 yrs old. Ordered ALT great kit and as always FCP Euro has quality parts and service side just as good. Everything in timely fashion and core exchange painless.

Great replacement. My alternator on my 328xi 2011 finally died this year. Got this kit and replaced it, now the car is running like new.

Great part… plus it come with the bolts, Fun fact; FCP best place for your BMW

My original Alternator went out overcharging causing my car to go into over voltage protection, I needed a good quality replacement for a car I drive daily and this is it ! I've had it installed for a while now and have a aftermarket radio with a amp and this alternator handles it perfectly, good thing it comes with NEW bolts cause I didn't know they were not supposed to be reused and it's a great time to replace the belt since you have to remove it when you install the alternator and it comes with one, all parts are high quality !

Had the alternator fail while coming home, failed at 107k miles. The car would not charge the battery with the engine running and was losing power. I purchased the reman bosch and was able to install it in under an hour. Be sure to unplug the battery before you disconnect the alternator. Id also recommend getting a new idler pulley so you can put it right on the new alternator. The quality of this alternator is excellent, I expect it to last atleast another 100k miles. This is the way to go if your looking to replace yours, the car quest brand is garbage.
