A brake air duct is a component in a vehicle’s braking system that channels cool air from the outside toward the brake rotors and calipers. Its purpose is to reduce brake temperature, prevent brake fade, and help maintain optimal braking performance during high-demand situations like towing, spirited driving, or repeated stops.

Brake Air Duct Failure Symptoms
  • Increased Brake Fade: Brakes may lose responsiveness after repeated or heavy use due to overheating.
  • Excessive Brake Dust or Heat Damage: Overheated brakes can leave more dust or cause rotor glazing and pad wear.
  • Unusual Smells During Braking: Burning odor may result from overheated pads or rotors.

OEM, plug and play, the duct goes to the oil cooler not sure why they named it brake duct

This part is made for cars that are equipped with the DCT transmission. 51747900824 is for cars WITHOUT the DCT transmission.
