An air bag module is the complete safety unit that houses the airbag cushion, inflator, and housing, typically located in the steering wheel, dashboard, side panels, or seats. In the event of a collision, the inflator rapidly releases gas to fill the cushion within milliseconds, creating a protective barrier between the occupants and hard surfaces of the vehicle. The module is a critical part of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and works together with seat belts to reduce the risk of serious injury during an accident.
