Your BMW's drive belt system is important for numerous reasons. The primary purpose of drive belts is to "drive" the accessories which makes your vehicle run and function properly. The main drive belt also known as an accessory belt, drives all of the accessories including water pump, power steering pump, and alternator. The A/C drive belt on the other hand drives the A/C compressor. Serpentine belts have a pretty long service life and should be replaced every 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes fits.

The drive belts are not the only component of the drive belt system that's critical. The tensioner dampers and pulleys all play a roll in keeping the drive belts properly tensioned and guided under all engine loads. Belts can stretch with higher engine loads and the tensioners and pulleys must maintain proper tension on the belts or they can fall off resulting in serious problems. These components also have a service life and should be replaced as needed.

This comprehensive kit from FCP Euro is designed to service the entire drive belt system in one service. It includes Contitech drive belts and all OEM components to ensure a long service life.

Please note: Early production vehicles listed in the fitment guide may still be equipped with the factory installed mechanical (spring loaded) tensioner. This setup does not have an idler pulley installed. Since the mechanical tensioner is no longer available it is required to update to the newer style tensioner which also requires an idler pulley being installed.

Accessory Drive Belt Kit

An accessory drive belt, also referred to as a serpentine belt, functions by transferring power from the engine crankshaft to various accessories like the alternator, water pump, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor. Essentially driving these rotating assembles through a series of pulleys with the belt's rotation. It is important to check the belt for cracks, fraying, or excessive wear during routine maintenance, keeping in mind most manufacturers recommend replacing the accessory drive belt at specified mileage intervals, typically between 50,000 and 100,000 miles. Proper tensioning of the belt is also crucial, so while servicing or inspecting an accessory drive belt, it is important to also inspect the belt tensioner and supporting idler pulleys.

it was good for the most part, i bought it to replace my belt system on my 95 525i with the m50b25tu the belt and pulleys seem to be correct however both tensioners didnt fit my car, and from looking at other reviews it looks like other people had inaccuracy concerning fitment. Make sure to double check if it fits your car

Great kit for entire overhaul
Great kit for the entire overhaul. Came with one extra pulley for my 97 328i that I returned, so depends on your E36 engine and model, you might need it or not.

Great product, took me a bit to figure out the install though
This is a fantastic product. However, for about a day there, it threw me for a loop because one of the tensioners on my '98 528i was totally different than the one I received from FCP. After contacting them though, they told me that the hydraulic tensioner they sent me had usurped the spring loaded one that came stock on my engine. Not only that, but it used different bolt holes in the engine block than the original one, which also took me a while to figure out. That being said, if you're reading this and you're in a similar situation, now you know so your install will be easier hopefully.

Good price, but not exactly right for a 1998 328i
The AC Tensioner damper has a larger bushing opening than what is on my current car. It looks like I need to purchase BMW PN 11281748718 to adapt the existing bracket to the newer, larger, damper opening. Also, I was upgrading from mechanical to hydraulic on the main accessory belt and my car DOES NOT have the extra idler pulley. Because of that, I either need to but a longer bolt (07119904677) and bearing cover (11281730349) to add it, or just discard it and hope the new tensioner is sufficient to cover the slack. The included belts are exactly the same size as my old one, so it should work fine without the extra idler, but I feel the extra bolts should have been included.

1/2 wrong parts
Belts were correct length, small pulleys were correct size. The bracket for the accessory tensioner kit as well as the drive belt idler pulley are not made for a 98 323i (M52). I believe this kit may be for other BMW models, but not for some of the models listed. FCP is great though, just 3 stars for this kit since it is not entirely accurate for the vehicle it has listed as a correct fit.

Great kit!
Great kit that was identical to the original pieces without the BMW price tag. My only critique is it came with new hardware for the serpentine belt tensioner assembly (which was a nice surprise!) but not the ac belt tensioner assembly. Not a big deal though. Highly recommend!

No, this kit does not fit a 1997 BMW Z3 1.9L with the M44 engine. It comes with both the main serpentine belt tensioner and the replacement damper/pulley for the A/C serpentine belt.

Yes, the main drive belt damper is included. It's part of INA-5330097100 which is a complete kit. You can see it pictured in the primary photo as the upper right hand piece.
