Product Information
This OEM expansion valve is responsible for regulating the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator thus allowing the refrigerant to expand and absorb heat from the cabin. Your A/C system's ability to pump cool air is dependent on a steady flow of refrigerant through the system.
An A/C expansion valve's primary function is to regulate the flow of refrigerant into the evaporator, where it absorbs heat and cools the air inside the vehicle. The expansion valve reduces the pressure of the refrigerant, allowing it to expand and cool before it enters the evaporator coils. This process is essential for efficient cooling and overall performance of the A/C system.
A/C Expansion Valve Failure Symptoms- Poor Cooling Performance: One of the most common symptoms of a failing expansion valve is reduced cooling efficiency. The air coming from the vents may not be as cold as expected, even when the A/C system is running
- Frost or Ice Build-Up: If the expansion valve is stuck open, too much refrigerant may enter the evaporator, leading to excessive cooling and ice formation on the evaporator coils. This can cause airflow restrictions and further decrease cooling efficiency

Note that the four o-rings are not included with this part. It doesn't look like they are included with the BMW OE part either so no fault of this part, just something to note.
