Product Information

Replacement AC compressor, keeps your BMW's interior comfortable regardless of the conditions outside

The AC compressor is never appreciated until it's sweltering outside. It's when it's humid and hot when you truly begin to appreciate your BMW's air conditioning system. In addition to keeping you cool during the heat of summer the AC compressor is also important for defrosting windows as well.

If your BMW's AC compressor isn't working, leaking, or you can hear squealing sounds when the compressor is engaged it will need to be replaced. Remember, your A/C compressor isn't just a comfort item but it's also a safety item.

A/C Compressor

The A/C compressor is responsible for providing the system pressure necessary to move refrigerant throughout the A/C system. Without adequate system pressure, the refrigerant will not adequately cool the air in your vehicle's cabin. An A/C system that is not blowing cold air or intermittently blowing cold air can be caused by an A/C compressor. Some simple checks that can be performed before condemning an A/C compressor are, verifying system refrigerant, verifying plausible values from all temperature and pressure sensors, and verifying command signals from the HVAC control unit.

A/C Compressor Failure Symptoms
  • No A/C clutch engagement
  • Variable displacement solenoid failure
  • Noise on engagement
  • Intermittent cooling

So Far So Good
It's been almost a year since I installed this into our X5. It has been cooling with any issues or problems. If you know about the hot humid summer in the South you can understand that this unit is or will be put to the test. Add to the fact my wife likes the temps cold. So, not real complaints, I will say it does make a strange little humming / rattling type nose. Bottomline: you know the compressor is engaged. It's just a bit more noisy than the OEM or anyone compressor for that fact. Also, a very mechanically inclined person, do all of my own maintenance (BMW, GMC, Chevy), but I am not necessarily an A/C mech, but I understand the theory and mechanics of operations. However, the unit says not to add oil. I didn't even though it was recommended I buy oil. I was not sure if the oil should be able to come out, should have researched more, but was in a hurry to get the X5 back together. After rolling it around and twisting the pulley several times, I never saw any signs of oil. Should I have? Anyway, besides the aforementioned, I would recommend this A/C compressor from FCP, thanks!

A/C Compressor
I love buying parts from FCPEuro. I spent a couple weeks alone just trying to figure out why my ac was not blowing cold. Compressor would kick on fine, there was refrigerant in the system and nicely pressurized. I decided to try and see if the compressor would fix the problem or not and it did. And it makes the customer feel great knowing that anytime you change parts with ones purchased from FCPEuro, you are always covered with that lifetime warrenty. do not hesitate, buy from FCP.
