Product Information

In most cars the A/C compressor is not only used for cooling in the summer, but also used to defrost the windshield in winter. While some may be able to live without A/C, it can be very difficult to see in winter without a functioning defroster.

The A/C system is one of the more complicated systems in the car, requiring special tools and knowledge, thus many DIY'ers will go the DIFM route (do it for me). Many pro's will install our parts, but we advise that you check with them first.

Consider replacing the A/C drier at the same time. The drier is designed to keep moisture out of the system and has a set "capacity" to remove that moisture. If you are investing in a new compressor, consider a new drier as well so as to be sure system moisture does not result in a premature failure of your new compressor.

Another consideration is compressor oil. Some compressors come with oil in them already, but never assume the quantity of oil included is correct for your application, because some compressors are suitable for multiple applications (and some come with just enough oil in them to prevent corrosion during shipping). ALWAYS double check and refer to your repair manual for the proper quantity.

We offer two compressor oils for your consideration, one with a UV dye to help locate leaks.

With UV Dye - SKU number 351214201 is from Behr and is a PAO Synthetic Oil with UV Dye. As a result it will not absorb moisture and should you get any leaks they will be easy to locate with the dye.

Without UV Dye - SKU number 351214031 is also from Behr, also a PAO Synthetic oil, but does not have the UV Dye, thus it is less expensive.

A/C Compressor

The A/C compressor is responsible for providing the system pressure necessary to move refrigerant throughout the A/C system. Without adequate system pressure, the refrigerant will not adequately cool the air in your vehicle's cabin. An A/C system that is not blowing cold air or intermittently blowing cold air can be caused by an A/C compressor. Some simple checks that can be performed before condemning an A/C compressor are, verifying system refrigerant, verifying plausible values from all temperature and pressure sensors, and verifying command signals from the HVAC control unit.

A/C Compressor Failure Symptoms
  • No A/C clutch engagement
  • Variable displacement solenoid failure
  • Noise on engagement
  • Intermittent cooling

Save your money and get this compressor
Same compressor as Genuine BMW. Highly recommend flushing compressor with fluid and out at least two times. Upon draining, there was evidence of debris most likely from the manufacturing process present in the fluid.

Exact replacement
Upon initial inspection, I found this Denso part is exactly the same Denso compressor that BMW supplied as OEM without the outrageous dealer price tag. Only small complaint is that it would be nice if the 2 line o-rings were in the box, so make sure to add those to your order as none of my seal assortment kits had the larger suction ring.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by Gina
Does this compressor comes with OEM plug, manifold, and sensors?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Yes, this is an OE direct fit replacement.
Question Posted by Gina
Will my BMW’s computer read this compressor?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The A/C compressor isn't read by a computer directly. It's a completely mechanical device controlled by a magnetic clutch that engages/disengages the compressor by needed demand from the HVAC system. This is a plug and play OE A/C compressor for the years/models listed.
Question Posted by a customer
Will i have to drain the oil from this new compressor and replace it, or add? Or is it ready to install with the correct oil from the box?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The compressor is already filled with the correct compressor oil. It does not need to be drained or filled.
