Audi VW Exhaust Temperature Sensor - Bosch 03L906088J

Product Information

An Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor is a sensor in a vehicle’s exhaust system that measures the temperature of exhaust gases as they exit the engine. This information is essential for engine control systems, as it helps optimize fuel-air mixtures, prevent overheating, and ensure the catalytic converter and other emissions components operate within safe temperature ranges. EGT sensors are commonly found in diesel engines and high-performance vehicles, where exhaust temperature management is critical.

• Poor Fuel Economy: A faulty EGT sensor can give inaccurate temperature readings, leading the engine control module (ECM) to adjust the fuel-air mixture improperly. This can result in inefficient combustion, leading to higher fuel consumption and reduced fuel economy
• Check Engine Light: A failing EGT sensor often triggers the Check Engine light on the dashboard, as the ECM detects abnormal temperature readings or inconsistencies. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) specific to the EGT sensor may also be logged in the vehicle’s system
• Engine Performance Issues: If the ECM receives incorrect temperature data from the EGT sensor, it may reduce engine power to prevent potential overheating, especially during heavy acceleration or high-load situations. This can cause reduced power, sluggish acceleration, or even limp mode activation
