Audi VW Chemical Gasket Maker - Genuine VW Audi D174003M2?
This stuff smells so bad, but honestly its amazing stuff. The Ocean Gate sub probably wouldnt have sunk if it was made out of this stuff. Its really great stuff. Expensive, but itll never leak. I use this on literally anything i need to seal up. Car related or not. Sunroof drain tubes ive glued with this, so strong you could swing off of those things. Dont cheap. Atleast not on this.

Timing cover sealant - this is the good stuff
2014 Jetta 1.8TSI CPKA I changed the timing chains, 105k miles, first time for them, and when it came to putting this sealant on the covers to prevent oil leaks, this is the stuff. It has a very strong chemical Odor - that means old fashioned really good stuff. It went on very smooth and I tried to cut the sealant tube for a 2-3mm bead. Well so far so good. It has gone for 10k miles and no signs of leaking anywhere. Don't forget this is a turbo and I think there could be some air pressure in the oil areas. I was a little concerned about such a small bead of sealant - but that is what came from the factory as far as I could tell. The book says to use 2-3mm bead. The timing chain cover, original, had a perfect sealant coverage when I took it off. Very little over spill on the inside. So I had seen some You Tube where guys just went nuts with big fat finger globs of black sealant from Walmart. I am too concerned about getting excess inside and falling off and plugging up the oil passages, pick up screen or whatever. So I stuck with the 3mm bead of the factory approved stuff. Perfect. I see there is revised one coming out - D174003M2 to revised #D174003A2, but I am worried that it won't be as potent as the good old stuff. Less VOC's maybe?

This is the stuff to use
Over the course of the 5 years I've owned my Avant I've used this stuff once. That's enough said honestly when buying sealer you don't want to have to do it again and again. So what are you waiting for stop being cheap and buy the stuff that lasted up to your timing job or 100k next to a hot turbo on the valve cover. Otherwise you'll be resealing every 2 years at the most.
