CV Joint Boot Kit

A CV joint boot serves to protect the axle joint and axle by keeping out dirt, water, and debris while preserving the grease that lubricates the joint. As a vital component of the drivetrain system, it enables the wheels to move in coordination with the vehicle’s suspension. Regular inspection of CV boots is essential, and they should be replaced before any signs of failure appear. Replacing a boot typically involves removing the old one, reapplying grease, and fitting a new boot, which will require tools for expanding the boot over the joint as well as clamping a special style clamp on both ends to prevent exposure. At the point of service, it is also recommended to expect the condition of the joint, if the joint is damaged, a full joint replacement may be necessary.

CV Joint Boot Kit Failure Symptoms
  • NVH: Clicking or popping sounds when turning or under load caused by binding in the joint during articulation
  • Leakage: Grease splattered on or around the inward-facing side of a wheel and/or suspension components behind the spindle
  • Drone: Humming or growling noises coming from a dry joint or a joint exposed to the elements

CV Boot kit
I received the boot kit and installed it on the car. The boot seems fine but I was disappointed in the quality of the clamps. My original clamps were MUCH beefier but the ones in this kit were very lightweight. I used a tool I bought at the same time to try to lock it into place but it was still loose. I ended up having to re-use the beefier OEM clamp that I had removed for the large side. The small side seemed to seat ok but was of much lower quality than the original.

GKN Boot Kit
Very good quality replacement boot - so glad I could find one. I've heard so much about the problems with failure of the budget replacement axles that I was bound & determined to repair my torn boot & this worked out nicely. (Luckily I found my torn boot early on as I was doing a suspension refresh, so no chance for the cv joint running dry or getting dirty!) THANKS FCP Euro for stocking these!!

Came with everything needed, but didn't fit perfectly!
The kit comes with everything you'd need. But for my particular car, the outer clamp was too big for the boot. We had to put the old one over the boot, and then put the new one over as well, and crimp as hard as we could to get it to fit. I have an 05 C6 A6 Quattro.

Good kit. Better than putting aftermarket non-audi axle on your car.
Boot stretched to install but very tight on axle, like it should be. Bands are a little hard to work with and I have the tool set for clamps like this. Actually re-used a factory band because Meyle clamp slid off. They could improve clamps or send an extra set. But I’m also still learning how to install these type of bands. The inner fits the factory triangle style inner hub like a glove. Highly recommended. Re-use your factory audi axle because the Chinese aftermarket ones DONT FIT audi inner flanges correctly. Original boots lasted 100K miles in florida. Able to just pull outer CV end off, C retainer, and change both boots and grease (caught the tear in time). But it does come with clips you need to do a complete tear down.

Yes, as long as the aftermarket axle shares the same measurements as the factory one it should fit fine.
