Audi VW A/C Compressor - Denso 4717025

I had replaced a dead original Sanden compressor with a Nissens, but had some problems with it, so replaced it with this Denso. It has been running great with no issues for five months so far. If you decide to do it yourself, read the forums for thorough guides. There is an excellent write-up for the VW Golf, which is the exact same system as the Audi TT. This site recommends the PAO oil, but I'd recommend getting a synthetic PAG46 with UV dye. Drain the compressor completely, turning the compressor in the correct direction (counter-clockwise, if I remember, but double-check... it has been a while). Flush the remaining components if not replacing (evaporator and hoses) and replace at least the condenser, dryer and expansion valve. Blow out the flushed lines with dried-compressed air. The recommend using nitrogen, but I think that is overkill. Just get an inline filter and desiccator for your compressor and blow out any remaining flush. Also replace the schrader valves. My low-pressure valve blew after charging after disconnecting the gauges. I also strongly recommend getting all new OEM o-rings. The generic ones had leaks and the condenser inlet seal blew, causing me to redo everything a third time. Check the ETKA part numbers and order from your local VW/Audi dealer. When they arrive, check the diameter and thickness with calipers. My local VW dealer gave me some that were much thicker than spec and it was a pain trying to convince them that I trusted my calipers more than whoever stocked their bins. The original Sanden lasted 18 years. Hoping to get at least half that time with the new Denso.
