Product Information
The transmission oil pan gasket is a sealing material that sits between the transmission oil pan and the transmission housing. Its primary function is to prevent transmission fluid from leaking out of the pan, which holds the fluid that lubricates and cools the internal components of the transmission. Over time, due to exposure to heat, pressure, and wear, the gasket may degrade, leading to leaks and potential transmission issues.
Transmission Oil Pan Gasket Failure Symptoms- Transmission Fluid Leaks: The most common sign of a failing oil pan gasket is fluid leaking from the transmission.
- Transmission Slipping or Delayed Engagement: A loss of transmission fluid due to a leaky gasket can cause the transmission to slip or have delayed engagement when shifting from one gear to another. Without enough fluid, the transmission can't generate the hydraulic pressure necessary for smooth gear changes.
- Noisy Transmission Operation: Low fluid levels caused by a leaking gasket can also result in increased friction between transmission components. This can lead to grinding or whining noises when the transmission is engaged.
