HVAC Heater Hose

Your vehicle heater hoses circulate hot engine coolant from the cooling system on the engine through the vehicle heater core, which is located inside the car's dashboard. This coupled with a blower motor, allows for the air inside the cabin to be heated. While critical to the functionality of your climate control system, your heater hoses are also very important to your vehicle's cooling system. Proper maintenance and inspection of your engine's heater hoses will help sustain performance in your climate controls inside the cabin and engine reliability preventing overheating.

HVAC Heater Hose Failure Symptoms
  • Cracks: Visible cracks on the hose surface, often caused by age or exposure to extreme temperatures
  • Leaks at connections: Leakage where the hose connects to other components due to worn or damaged clamps
  • Softness or deterioration: The rubber material of the hose becomes soft and loses structural integrity over time
  • Low coolant level: Regularly checking the coolant level can indicate a leak
  • Coolant smell under the hood or in the cabin: A strong coolant odor when the hood is open or inside the vehicle after the heat has been running
  • No heat from the heater: If the heater core isn't receiving enough heated coolant, no heat will be produced within the vehicle Visible coolant leaks: Leakage in the engine bay near the heater hose connections to the firewall

About Rein

Founded in 2007, CRP Automotive introduced the Rein Automotive line of OE-quality replacement parts to the aftermarket. And in just two short years, Rein Automotive has become very popular among both warehouse distributors and professional repair technicians. Rein is the German word for “pure”, and has come to be synonymous with quality in the automotive aftermarket. A true dealer alternative.

The Rein brand includes a growing number of “better than OE” parts for selected applications. These parts address known weaknesses and premature failures of factory parts. Many of these replacement and service solutions have been developed with the help of our Innovation Council, a hand-picked group of experienced professional repair technicians and shop owners throughout North America.

All Rein Automotive OE-quality parts are backed by the CRP Automotive standard, and are backed with a ISO 9001:2015 quality management system certification. Each year, CRP Automotive ships thousands of Rein Automotive brand products. And with widespread NAFTA market distribution through strategically placed warehouses in Cranbury, New Jersey and Puebla, Mexico - OE-quality products like Rein Automotive are delivered to customers both faster and more cost-effectively than ever before.

In 2017 Rein partnered with FCP Euro in competing a W204 C300 AER car for the 2017 season. The partnership focused FCP Euro to dive deep into the Rein catalog offering, and hundreds of new products were added and integrated into our catalog. Hundreds of new packages were created not only using the full part pine up of Rein products, but also the entire family of CRP products like Pentosin.

Rein is also an innovative brand, winning numerous trade awards — including multiple new product innovation awards at the annual AAPEX trade show.

Hose worked on my B7 A4
As I go to order a 3rd heater hose (for my 3rd car), I realize that all along I had been ordering the wrong part. I should have been ordering 8E1819371T which is shaped slightly different. Unfortunately I didn't realize, and well, turns out we were able to make this hose work on both my 2006 and 2008 B7. I don't recommend using the wrong part but it worked and it saved me over $40.00 so guess what...I'll order another. :)

Audi B6 1.8T (AMB) Quattro
I was very hesitant in purchasing this "Non Audi Ring" hose.. But after receiving this super high quality (same if not better) hose for the price, I'm totally blown away. This hose already has the o-ring and metal clip (to hook/clip on to the head/coolant flange. After replacing the Flange, I neglected to replace this hose @ the time. Sure enough, 7k miles later, the original Audi hose broke free from the plastic connector (near the metal ring). This hose is also known as the Heater Core Supply Hose. The plastic housing end of the hose connects to the "south" opening of the coolant flange, while the other end is routed thru the rubber grommet (on the battery floor) and connects to the heater core supply port. Don't forget to pickup a new hose clamp for the heater core supply port, as mines was already stressed (170k miles) N90687001.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
Question Posted by a customer
Does the connector to the coolant flange have an o-ring inside?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
The heater hose does not have an o-ring. The quick connector o-ring is part# N90765301. The coolant flange is part# 06B121132E and includes o-ring part# 037121687. The coolant flange has a sensor that requires o-ring part# N90316801.
