Audi High Pressure Fuel Pump Kit

The high pressure fuel pump is responsible sending the proper pressure to the fuel rail to allow your engine to run properly. Overtime, the spring can become weak not allowing the pump to build up the correct pressure which would result in your engine running rough. When this pump fails you will not your check engine light on for low fuel pressure faults and should be replaced as soon as possible.

Direct Injection High Pressure Fuel Pump

A direct injection high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) is a critical component in modern gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines. Unlike traditional fuel pumps, it boosts fuel pressure to extremely high levels (often over 2,000 psi) so fuel can be directly injected into the combustion chamber. This enables better fuel atomization, improved efficiency, and higher power output. The HPFP is typically driven by the camshaft and works in tandem with a low-pressure fuel pump. Over time, wear, contamination, or internal failure can lead to drivability issues.

Direct Injection High Pressure Fuel Pump Failure Symptoms
  • Engine performance problems – hard starting, hesitation, misfires, or loss of power under load.
  • Fuel-related issues – check engine light, lean/rich codes, or reduced fuel economy.
  • Noises or leaks – ticking/whining sounds from the pump or visible fuel leakage at the pump area.
