Audi Black Top Crankcase Breather Kit:

The early EA888 Gen 2 engines were equipped with a "Black-Top" engine crankcase breathe valve, commonly referred to as the PCV valve. This valve allows blow-by-gasses to be passed into the engine intake system to be burned as a way to control emissions, while filtering out oil vapors and keeping it in the oil sump. This valve is crucial to the vehicle's emission system, and when it fails it will cause a check engine light to illuminate on your cluster, thereby preventing your ability to pass emission testing.
