Volvo Alternator Backing Plate Cover - Genuine Volvo 30667454

I needed to replace the alternator in my 2008 XC90 V8 and was not sure whether or not the alternator on my car had the ducting, which I wanted for my replacement alternator. With assistance from FCP Euro customer service, I ordered all the parts they recommended. I did the job yesterday and anyone who done this job will tell you, replacing the alternator on a Volvo V8 is not an enjoyable way to spend most of a day. Once the alternator was out, I got my box of replacement parts to install the ducting on my new alternator and lo and behold, the backing plate cover was identical to the backing plate cover on my replacement (Bosch) alternator and does NOT have provisions to accept the duct like the plate on the alternator I had just removed from my car, which does have the duct. The picture in this part description is exactly what the cover looks like and now that I know what the cover that accepts the duct looks like, it is very clear that this cover will not accept a duct. The duct requires an almost PacMan shaped port in it to fit in place that probably takes about 1/3 of the surface area of the plate. When I put the part number on the back of the Genuine Volvo alternator removed from my car in the search function here, it leads to the Genuine Volvo alternator which makes me feel like that alternator may have the backing plate cover on it that accepts the duct. I ended up transferring my old backing plate cover to my new alternator so that I could have the ducting and heat shield the Volvo deemed necessary to protect the alternator from all the heat in that engine compartment. I
