Your Volvo’s air filter is a large black box on the front right side (the driver's side) of the engine compartment. Take out the air filter cover by unhooking the hose clamp from the housing unit. After you have removed the hose clamp, you should see your old air filter. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws that secure the air filter in place. Set the screws aside for later use. Replace the old air filter with the new air filter. Before securing the new air filter in place, use compressed air to spray any debris and dirt that is around the air filter. Secure the new filter in place using a screwdriver and the screws that you previously removed and set aside. Replace the cover of air filter housing unit. Make sure it is snug and in place before securing the hose clamp. After you have reattached the hose clamp to the air filter housing unit, check to make sure the entire unit is firmly connected.
