Select a wrench or socket that fits the bolt and rotate it counterclockwise to loosen it and then take it out slowly. The gear oil should be level with the bolt hole and dribble out or you can reach in and inspect the level with your finger. Add some 90 weight gear oil if the level is too low, as it must be pumped into the differential. There are smaller pumps that attach to these plastic oil bottles. Replace and tighten the bolt and then take out the jack stands and lower your BMW. It is important to know you should not inspect your BMW’s gear oil unless the whole is level or else you will get an imprecise reading.
