BMW Cabin Air Filter Parts
BMW has made it a practice to create quality products and vehicles; all while making the competition keep up with their high standards. Their reliability speaks for itself and follows into their products, even in their cabin filter parts and components. Eliminating the cabin filter from regular BMW vehicle maintenance schedules can escalate your car exposure to toxic fumes, allergens, odors, and even cut down the lifespan of your vehicle's HVAC system. Regrettably, cabin filter lifespans are only 12,000 to 30,000 miles, or one to three years depending on the kind of cabin filter you are using. By reinstating the cabin filter to your BMW’s routine maintenance schedule, you can improve your vehicle’s health, safety, and overall life span. The first thing to do when replacing your BMW’s cabin filter is to open the hood for a clear view of the engine. The cabin filter compartment is at the base of the windshield cowl, directly under the windshield wipers in a long, thin, black compartment two feet wide by five inches deep. Find the three fastener screws in the cabin filter cover. There will be two on the ends and one in the middle of the cover. Turn all three of the fastener screws counterclockwise one-quarter of a turn to release and take out the cabin filter cover. Take out the cover by lifting it up and pulling it toward the front of the vehicle. You should now see the old filter. Lift the old filter and pull it toward the front of the vehicle in order to get it out of the space. Make sure the curved shape of your BMW’s new cabin filter matches the curved contour of the windshield before putting it. Hold the filter in the precise positioning and slide it into the filter compartment. Snap the two tabs on the bottom left and right sides into the compartment slots. Reinstall the filter compartment cover and secure the three fastener screws by pressing them down and rotating them clockwise one-quarter of a turn each. Diverse types of cabin filters are available for your specific BMW. Cabin filters with an activated charcoal component that mitigate external fumes and odors have a lifespan of only one year, or 12,000 to 15,000 miles, so make sure to inspect your filter manufacturer's literature for your specific lifespan information.
