E36 washer bottle pump filter
Make sure your pump has a filter before it sucks through grime in your bottle and blocks up the window squirters!

My E90 came to me sad, neglected and abused. It wasn't sure if it was worthy of love and acceptance. One of the ways it showed this was completely inability to build windshield washer pressure despite having a full tank of fluid. However, I noticed that the headlights did get a good spray pattern on them.
It turns out when bad water goes stale, dark jelly bacteria film gets formed and has a tendency to clog these. Pop it out, replace it, maybe rinse the tank with some bleach and party on!

Just what I needed, thanks!
This is next to the washer pump, a good idea to change preventively.

bottom of windshield reservoir
When changing pump I figured to go ahead and change filter. It was a lot easier to do it while changing pump. Took about a hour to remove inside bottom of wheel well but an easy fix.

If your washer tank is leaking change these filters and the o-ring on the headlight washer pump (Size:OD 12.5 mm, ID 8.7 mm 1.9 mm W)

What is there to be said about genuine BMW parts? My washer fluid tank would leak with any more than half a tank of fluid in it. Replaced the pump grommet / strainer and it is like new again!
