Review of auto transmission oil and filter
The auto transmission oil and filter replacement kit are genuine BMW part. I installed them works well. Shipment was great and nice packaging; all arrived on time. I have been start using FCP ERUO for all my parts, material and liquids. Good job FCP Euro.

Only giving 4 star review because 1 bolt snapped. As I had already tightened everything down mildly, I was starting the torque sequence when the first bolt snapped under literally no pressure, pulled the pan and was able to take off the rest of the threads with damn near only my fingers ( so you know it really wasn't tight), I'm assuming it was a defective bolt, but otherwise everything was quite fine, the pan was damn near identical, the rest of the bolts got torqued to spec with no issues, I would buy again, just keep your original hardware while you do the job just incase you find yourself in the same pickle as me lol

Completely Changed how my BMW F10 drives!!
I have 94k miles on my 5 series and I was experiencing a hard 1-2 shift. Overall, my shifting was pretty sloppy of the ZF8.
I used this kit and my car drives completely different. So smooth, no hard shifts, easy to replace (just a few of those t40 bolts).
Highly Highly Recommend! This should arguable be done every 50k.
While you are there, change out the Diff Fluid too.

they sent me everything except instead of 7 quarts of ZF Lifeguard 8 like i need they only sent 3 and 4 quarts of ZF Lifeguard 5, which very well would’ve damaged my transmission knowing how sensitive these transmissions are.

Serviced my 2011 Bmw 528i transmission (8HP45z) at 167,882mi. One thing to note, this is a VERY VERY messy process make sure you have something to protect the ground. Put new pan on and fluid, didn't shift too rough before but now I can't even feel it shifting, it's like butter. Make sure you fill to correctly level. You WILL end up covered in trans fluid. Drained about 4.5qts out and used little under 5 bottles.

All materials fit perfectly. Once car was up and level after a 40 min drive, I was only able to drain about 4l total. When I pulled the filler plug it came pouring out at a steady stream. (Maybe was overfilled at factory?)
Put in 3l until it first poured out, then ran it for 15-20 mins since I didn’t have the scan tool. I was able to get another 800ml in after running it. Seems weird after seeing some reviews could get 5l back in. I know that about 2l is stored in the torque converter.
So 3.8l back in and test drove it and all is good. May try to top up in the next couple of days as I still think it should take more fluid…

changed my fluid at 126k miles. car shifts smoother now. 100% recommend. torque spec on pan bolts is 10nm. you will likely have 1-2 bottles unused after the entire service is done. first fill up is on a cold trans. second fill is when it reaches operating temp, 40-50 C or 104 degrees F. if you dont have diagnostic equipment to read trans temp, just look at your oil temp guage on the cluster. when the oil is at normal operating temp(around middle of the guage) your trans should be at operating temp as well.

You need all the bottles to completely replace the fluid in the transmission.

Great kit...I was long overdue for a service...120K miles. I have a 2014 BMW 528i xdrive. I took all the parts to my mechanic, and he installed everything for $150. I was quoted $1500 by the BMW dealer where I bought my car. It took less than (1) hour to complete. Everything fit perfect. It took slightly under 5 bottles of fluid. I didn't have any transmission slipping or any other problem. The fluid was not as bad as I thought it would. It shifts so much smoother, and has a lot more power than it did prior to the service. The ZF transmission is one of the most reliable. I work on my own car, however this was not something I wanted to do myself on jack stands. Overall, I'm happy to finally get it done.
