Highly recommend changing trans fluid on the zf’s, lifetime fluid is bs, I changed mine around 2k miles ago at 70k, shifts feel a ton more smooth, the zf will still have that hard 1-2 shift but overall you’ll definitely feel the difference, do not reset adaptions after fluid change and make sure to follow filling procedure exactly as specified, if not followed right it will lead to issues.

Purchased for my 2021 540i. Installation was simple enough. Plastic filter had Hengst and ZF brand markings on it, a good sign of authenticity. Had 1-1/2 bottles of ATF left after second fill between 40-50°C. Used a small amount of new ATF fluid to lubricate filter housing o-ring as well as perimeter gasket of transmission pan, ensuring no binding of gaskets to the mating surface. Cleaned transmission mating surface thoroughly. Followed the FCP Euro ZF 8 speed diy video on YouTube. Very similar process to what’s described in the video, took about 4 hours for me to do (amateur diy mechanic) so far 5k miles later no issues. Fluid changed at 59,xxx miles, fluid condition was dark but still in relatively good enough condition, glad I changed it, car shifts and operates noticeably smoother. All parts went in the same way the OE came out. I definitely recommend laying some towels down before doing the job it got a little messy when filling. I would guess that this is a perfectly fine part for the correct application. My three star review is due to the fact that FCP Euro's confirmed fitment for a 2021 X7 is incorrect. The pan will match up to the transmission but on the 2021 X7 there is a pickup tube attached to the filter. If you look up the 2022 X7 transmission pan, you will get the correct part; ZF 24118743462. Unfortunately, it is on backorder atm. I would assume the 2019 and 2020 X7 transmission pans also use ZF 24118743462. FCP is giving me a refund and paying to ship the pan back so that's good. My review is a little biased by the fact that I have to change the transmission pan three times due to receiving the wrong part (new wrong part, replace with old part again, install new correct part).
