I installed the coolant kit from FCP which included the Rein tank. I installed the new Expansion tank and it immediately leaked from the smaller opening on the bottom of the tank. I tried reinstalling the tank and it still leaked. I then reinstalled by 10 year old original tank and no leaks. I just ordered the Nessen tank and will contact FCP Monday for a replacement tank to keep on my shelf as a spare I have another BMW that uses the same tank.

BMW X3 Coolant Overflow Tank Failed
The level indicator float "stem" showed severe discoloration after 4 years service and became brittle and snapped off. This rendered the level indicator unless. This was the REIN made part. I had only used BMW blue coolant.

It’s good fcp has warranty bc you wouldn’t expect this part to fail after 2 years of use. I got this back in August 2022, and it’s June 2024 and I’m needing the replace this because the O rings on the bottom part of the tank are leaking and the upper radiator hose won’t seal with the tank (new hose). Having to replace this I might spend the extra on the Nissen part.

2005, X3, 173k miles. Perfect fit replacement for coolant system overhaul after old one started leaking. No leaks thus far (~2-3weeks).

Good fit part and FCP replaced this part after it failed 18 mo nths lateer.
