It worked perfectly. No leaks.
Mine broke coming back home and resulted in a tow charge that cost way more than this part. If you have a plastic flange, just change it now and have peace of mind. Make sure to clean the block side of the connection before installing the flange. Took me only 1 hour to do at night using a flashlight and making sure the block was super clean.
Had I known about this beforehand, I would have saved hundreds on a tow charge.

Decided that at 151K, I was on "borrowed time" before it failed. Ordered the Aluminum ears from FCP. Installed this evening. Only needed to remove the Intake duct-work to gain enough space to complete the work. Lost about 4-6 oz of coolant when I pulled the hose off. It was a timely decision as you can see from the pics. It was ready to fail with part of it having separated from the body. Only thing preventing leaking already was the O-ring.

Such a simple upgrade, very cheap and not too difficult to replace. Get it down before it could leave you stranded.

Replace early to avoid being stranded and potential damage to cooling system
FCP Euro DIY blog is super helpful and takes preventative maintenance to the highest level. Many of us would not have known about this common failure since the failure of this part is from inside out. Took my original BMW mickey mouse flange out and sure enough the plastic exhibited discoloration and broke into small pieces. Important to replace the original BMW part early to avoid small plastic fragments get into the cooling system and cause further damage. This aluminum flange arrived quickly and was easy to install -- prevented from being stranded on the side of the road. Thank You!

If you’re looking at this aluminum flange and considering whether or not you need it, you need it! The plastic OEM cylinder head coolant flange on your N54 is failing right now or has already failed. I tapped the coolant tube that attaches to the flange while working on something else and it just gently popped right off and spilled coolant everywhere. Had I not discovered this it most certainly would have happened at the worst possible time. High quality machined aluminum part and what BMW should have done from the factory.

Replaced the plastic part that comes with our cars. Replaced as preventative maintenance. No leaks after a few thousand miles.
