Oooooo. Proper tools are proper.
Put this to use right away when I received it today. The socket makes the cross nut so easy to work with. The other little double-D socket didn't fit the XC-90 (probably fits a few other cars), but it's a Torx on the original Sachs strut or 7mm hex on the Bilstien on my '06 XC-90 anyway, so no problem.

The strut tool set made changing the struts much easier. I definitely recommend getting this set.

I recently installed all new 4C struts on my S60R. To properly assemble to the front struts, this tool is needed. Beware that the counter hold the strut rod a torx socket is needed. Or at least was in my application, no big deal. But the large socket included is needed to tighten down the cross nut.

Get this for sure if youre doing struts first time
Just finished up doing struts, 1st time, and I am so glad I ordered this. Will help you get good leverage on top nut and the special cross nut that would be difficult without this tool.

Seldom an occasion to use it, but when it's needed, makes an easy & job of removing and installing strut cross nut.

Volvo Strut cross nut special tool/socket
This is a gotta have tool/socket if your replacing your struts/springs and/or both. My first time doing front struts on a 1996 Volvo 850GLT was not fun without the cross nut socket, I was eventually able to crack the cross nuts loose but it was a PITA!! I've used it to do struts on an '04 XC90/'98V70Xc and a '96 850GLT and it works perfectly!!

Meh, I wish it were not made in China, but it's as solid a tool as any (most CTA tools in my experience are). Be sure you have a giant or adjustable wrench for the tool and the correct torx bits for the strut shaft, but this ought to make life easier than hamemring away at the cross nuts with a chisel and a hammer :)

This is a must have tool for removal of the cross nut on the front struts on your Volvo. All you need is a 27mm impact socket for your impact wrench and your good to go!!
