Came for the rubber retaining spring, stayed for a new fuel cap
As we know the crappy rubber strings break. So in Volvo's wisdom you replace the whole cap.
Shame there is no rebuild kit.

Parts of my old cap was falling apart in different places--especially the tether to the fuel filler door. It was nearly 17-years-old, so it needed to be replaced, anyways. The old one was probably causing the occasional EVAP leak, too. It's been several weeks now, and not a single check engine light from this! Go genuine with these fuel filler caps to prevent these faults, for as long as possible.
